Whew! We finally have the cats moved into the new shelter!
The kitties are doing great. They settled right in, and are enjoying exploring their new surroundings.
Here are some photos of the FeLV+ cats. As you can see, they feel very at home.
We'll post more photos of the rest of the kitties in the coming weeks.
It's been a very long haul, but we finally did it!
Exciting news! We are getting closer and closer to the big move into our new shelter. In the past week, commercial grade floors have been installed, more rooms have been painted, and drywall replaced.
We still need to finish painting, get some sewer work done, and pass our inspection with the city. Crossing our fingers that all can be completed by the end of October, and the kitties will move in November.

Sunday's work party to spiff up our new shelter was a great success. Rooms were painted and made to look new; sad, old linoleum was removed in the kitchen, and plans were made to build furniture especially for the cats.
Many thanks to all the volunteers who lent a hand yesterday, and to all those who put in hours in the weeks and days prior. Thanks to all who have sanded, spackled, replaced drywall, moved heaps of dirt, tidied up the garden, and more; and to all of those who have picked up extra shifts at the current shelter so that others could be free to work on the new facility.

In spring 2009, House of Dreams purchased a house in NE Portland. We have been hard at work renovating the house, bringing it up to city codes, and preparing it for the big move (almost 50 cats!) coming in October.
This coming Sunday, September 20, we will be painting the interior rooms and doing other prep work. We have a good sized crew for the project so far, but could always use more helpers. If you would like to join us, email Kristin for more information.
