House of Dreams provides shelter and care for abandoned and homeless cats, with the goal of finding them permanent homes or providing them a lifetime home in our facility. We are a free-roam, no-kill cat shelter located in Portland, OR, and one of the only area shelters with facilities for Feline Leukemia positive kitties.
House of Dreams is a 501(c)(3) organization.
Looking for ways to give to the kitties at House of Dreams this holiday season?
Here are some easy ways to support the shelter.
Check out our wish list at Amazon.com. Scroll through the list, make your selections, check out as usual, and Amazon will ship the item to us!
If you prefer a direct donation, go to the "donate" button on our website (find it in the upper left hand corner), click the button, and follow the directions.
Do you live in the Portland area? If so, swing by Pet Samaritan Clinic and pick up some toys for the cats and dogs in your life. House of Dreams volunteers made doggy pull toys and catnip toys to sell at the clinic, with all proceeds going to the care of our kitties. They may even have a few House of Dreams 2013 calendars left! Pet Samaritan is located at 2519 East Burnside, Portland.
Getting a new car for the holidays? House of Dreams partners with Volunteers of America for a car donation program, with proceeds from the sale of your old car benefitting the shelter. Learn more about the program here.
Looking for a gift for the kitty lovers in your life? How about a House of Dreams' Angel Program sponorship? For $35 you or someone you know can become a
special angel to a special kitty. You'll receive a photo of
"your" cat and a letter of introduction; if the sponsorship is a gift, we can mail the sponsorship materials to the recipient. Learn more here.
Need more info about ways to support the shelter? Give us a call at 503.262.0763 or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we'll be happy to help.
Happy Holidays, and many thanks to all of our wonderful supporters! We wouldn't be here without you!

programs humanely reduce the population of homeless stray and feral
cats. Cats who live outdoors are humanely trapped and brought to an FCCO
clinic to be evaluated, spayed or neutered and vaccinated. In the past
12 months, FCCO has spayed/neutered more than 6,500 feral and stray cats
— and helped 26% more cats from the Portland-metro area than last year.

cats in our community.
strand necklaces are made by House of Dreams volunteer Mollie from donated beads. 100% of proceeds from their sale go to House
of Dreams Cat Shelter.
"Several years ago,
I inherited a box of beads from my mother-in-law. Though I loved
them, I didn’t have a clue what to do with them. I put them away
with a promise I would take a beading class… someday. Well, five
years later, I still hadn’t learned the first thing about beading.
day when I was fostering a sick cat, I saw the box sitting on the
shelf. I’d always loved the knotted strands passed on to me by my
grandmother. With the help of kitty on my lap, I grabbed some
embroidery thread, a handful of beads, and began.
found I loved beading this way, but soon the box was filled with
necklaces instead of beads. If I sold them, I could give the money to
House of Dreams cat shelter, but how was I going to replenish my
stock? A beader friend had some extras she was happy to donate to my
cause. That’s how Free
Beads for Cats was born."
Mollie's necklaces are available at our various fundraising events, including the Pretty Kitty Holiday Craft Bazaar (Saturday, Nov 10 at Tabor Space).
